LinkedIn banner size and dimensions
A LinkedIn banner, the cover photo or background photo at the top of your profile, is 1584 × 396 pixels: four times as wide as it is tall, saved as a JPG or PNG under 8 MB. On a computer your profile photo sits over its lower left corner, so keep your words in the middle and on the right. A company page cover is a different shape, 1512 × 256 pixels.

LinkedIn banner dimensions
The sizes LinkedIn's help recommends, and the sizes the Brand Kit draws.
| Image | Recommended size | File |
|---|---|---|
| Profile banner (cover image) | 1584 × 396, a 4:1 shape | JPG or PNG, under 8 MB |
| Company page cover | 1512 × 256, close to 6:1 | PNG or JPEG, 3 MB at most |
| Company page logo | 400 × 400 (268 × 268 at least) | PNG or JPEG, 3 MB at most |
| Career page main image | 1128 × 376, a 3:1 shape | PNG or JPEG, 3 MB at most |
These numbers come from LinkedIn's help for your profile and for Pages. An image of another shape still uploads: LinkedIn lets you crop it, move it, resize it and add a filter before you apply it.
On a computer the banner shows at about 792 × 198, half its size, as ManyPixels measured it. High resolution screens fit two pixels into each one you see, so the full 1584 × 396 is what keeps it sharp there.
The Brand Kit draws your profile banner at 1584 × 396 and your company page cover at 2256 × 382. That second one is the shape LinkedIn asks for, drawn larger, so it stays crisp on a sharp screen too.
Where to put text on a LinkedIn banner
Your profile photo sits on the lower left of the banner.
“Your cover image appears behind your profile photo,” says LinkedIn's help. On a computer the photo covers the area from about 56 to 360 pixels across and from 212 pixels down to the bottom edge, measured on the full 1584 × 396 image by ManyPixels. Anything you put there is hidden. ManyPixels suggests keeping text between about 420 and 1424 pixels across, and 40 and 356 down.
LinkedIn also warns that the banner can look different depending on the size of your browser window and your screen. Leave a margin on every edge as well as that corner.
On a phone, the app lays out the top of your profile its own way and the banner shows much smaller. A short line in large letters holds up best there. Look at it on your own phone after you upload it.
The Brand Kit leaves the lower left corner empty, about a quarter of the width and a little more than half the height, and sets your words in the rest.
What to put on your LinkedIn banner
A banner tells people in a second what you do, or who you work for.
Your brand. Your company's logo and colors, so people recognize you from your email signature to your business card.
One line. What you do and who for, in a few words: “Tax returns for freelancers in Austin” or “Wedding photographer in Maine”. If your website already has a line like that, use it.
Where to find you. Your website, small and easy to read. Your phone number belongs in your LinkedIn contact info instead.
A calm background. One of your own photos (your shop, your work, your city), a texture, or a flat color behind the words. A busy collage turns to noise at that size.
| Job | Banner idea |
|---|---|
| Sales | What you help clients do, such as “Payroll software for restaurants”, over a photo of your product in use |
| Real estate | The area you sell in, such as “Homes for sale across San Mateo County”, with your brokerage's name |
| Recruiting | The roles you're filling, such as “We're hiring nurses in Phoenix”, in the company's colors |
| Software | Your specialty, such as “Backend engineer, Go and Postgres”, on a plain dark background |
| Finance | Your firm and who you serve, such as “Retirement planning for teachers”, on navy or deep green |
| Freelance | Your service and city, such as “Brand design in Portland”, with your website beside your logo |

LinkedIn company page banner size
A company page has a cover image of its own, longer and thinner than a profile's.
LinkedIn recommends 1512 × 256 pixels, as a PNG or JPEG of 3 MB at most, and gives the same size as the minimum (LinkedIn Help). It asks you to keep key details away from the edges, especially the lower right corner, and to put what matters in the middle, since the image may be cropped on different screens. Older guides still give 1128 × 191, which is now below LinkedIn's minimum.
If your company has a page and you have a profile, make the two match: the same colors, the same typeface, the same line.
A banner that matches your business card and email signature
What esigna's Brand Kit draws for you.
Type your website's address. esigna reads your logo, colors, fonts and tagline from it, then draws your LinkedIn banner at 1584 × 396 and your company page cover, along with your business card, letterhead, covers for X, Facebook and YouTube, and your email signature, all in the same look.
When you pick another look, every piece changes with it. Each file downloads at full size, ready to upload to LinkedIn.
Look through the three sample Kits first, for free, like the one for a law firm. You pay for the Brand Kit itself once, with no subscription.

FAQ
Questions
What size is a LinkedIn banner?
1584 × 396 pixels for the banner on your profile, which LinkedIn's help calls the cover image and many people call the cover photo or background photo, as a JPG or PNG under 8 MB. For a company page cover, LinkedIn recommends 1512 × 256 pixels, as a PNG or JPEG of 3 MB at most.
Why is my LinkedIn banner blurry?
Usually the image is smaller than the space it fills. LinkedIn's help suggests choosing an image with a larger file size, and says photos look better than images with logos. Upload it at 1584 × 396, and as a PNG if it is mostly words, since JPG compression blurs the edges of letters.
Why does my LinkedIn banner get cut off?
On a computer your profile photo covers its lower left corner, and how much of the banner shows depends on your browser window. Keep words away from the edges and out of that corner, and upload an image in a 4:1 shape so you don't have to crop it.
What size is a LinkedIn company page banner?
1512 × 256 pixels, as a PNG or JPEG of 3 MB at most. LinkedIn lists that as both the minimum and the recommended size, so the older 1128 × 191 is now too small.
Where can I find LinkedIn banner examples?
esigna's three sample Brand Kits each include a LinkedIn banner, drawn for a fictional real estate agent, law firm and family clinic. You can open all three for free from esigna's Brand Kit page.
Can I make a LinkedIn banner for free?
Yes. One of your own photos, cropped to 1584 × 396, makes a decent banner, and online design tools have free templates. esigna's Brand Kit is paid: it draws the banner from your website, matching your business card and email signature. Its three sample Kits are free to look through.
How do I change my LinkedIn banner on my phone?
Tap your profile photo, then tap it again to open your profile. Tap the Camera icon, choose Upload a single photo, adjust the image, then tap Save.
