Canva email signature templates vs esigna
Canva has over 2,500 email signature templates and lets you design every detail, and what you get is a picture: Canva’s own page says to save it as a PNG and insert it in Gmail as an image. esigna builds your signature from text, with your photo, logo and icons as pictures inside it, so people can copy your email address, tap your number and click each link.

Choose Canva if
- You want a free hand over every part of the layout, the fonts and the art.
- Your logo, colors and fonts already live in Canva.
- Your signature is mostly a picture: a banner, or a piece of your work.
Choose esigna if
- People should be able to tap your phone number, copy your email address and click each link.
- Some of the people you write to use classic Outlook for Windows, which can hide pictures linked from the web until they allow them.
- You want a free design with no paid parts in it.

Folio, Gallery and Muse lean on type and pictures the way a Canva design does, and every detail in them is still text and links.

A picture, or text with pictures in it
Canva’s email signature page describes the result as your branding “in a single image”. It suggests saving the design as a PNG, which keeps logos sharper than a JPG, and adding it in Gmail’s signature settings with the image button.
The signature looks exactly as you designed it. Your email address in it can’t be copied, your phone number can’t be tapped on a phone, and most email apps let a picture carry one link at most, so your website and your profiles can’t each be clicked. A screen reader reads only the picture’s alt text.
When pictures don’t load
Microsoft’s help says classic Outlook for Windows is “configured by default to block automatic picture downloads from the Internet”, and that a reader can allow them for one message or add the sender to their Safe Senders. So when your signature is one picture linked from the web, classic Outlook for Windows can show nothing in its place until the reader allows it.
An esigna signature has pictures too, your photo, your logo and the icons, but your name, title and contact details are text, so they show either way.
Paid elements and transparent backgrounds
Some Canva elements are premium. Canva’s help says that if your design has one, you can buy a license for it, upgrade to a paid plan, or download a watermarked draft. A PNG with a transparent background is a Canva Pro option too, so on Canva Free the picture keeps its background color, which shows as a box around it in an inbox of another color, such as one in dark mode.
Every free esigna Template is free in every format: copy the signature, its HTML or plain text, or download a PNG.
Where Canva is the better choice
Canva gives you a free hand. If your logo, fonts and colors are already there, or your signature is really a banner or a sample of your work, it’s the quicker place to make it, and your team can work on the same design with you in real time.
You can also use both. Make a banner in Canva, download it as a PNG, and add it to your esigna signature as an image under your details, where your details stay text. Bulletin is a Template made for that.
Moving a Canva signature to esigna
- In Canva, download your logo as a PNG, and your photo if it’s only there.
- Open esigna’s free Editor and pick a Template close to your Canva design.
- Set your brand color and font, type your details and add your photo and logo.
- Copy it and paste it over the picture in your email app’s signature settings. The guides to changing it in Gmail and Outlook show where that is.

FAQ
Questions
Can I make an email signature in Canva for free?
Yes. Canva has free email signature templates, and you can download your design as a PNG. A design with a premium element asks you to buy a license for it, upgrade or download a watermarked draft.
Are the links in a Canva email signature clickable?
Only as one link for the whole picture, at most. The signature is a single image, so the phone number, email address and website in it are part of the picture and can’t be clicked one by one.
Why doesn’t my Canva signature show in Outlook?
Classic Outlook for Windows blocks pictures linked from the internet by default, unless the reader allows them or has you in their Safe Senders, so a signature that is one picture can show nothing. A signature made of text, like esigna’s, still shows your name and details.
Can I use my Canva logo in esigna?
Yes. Download it from Canva as a PNG and add it to your esigna signature as your logo. The Editor sizes it for email.
Is esigna free?
Yes. Making and copying a signature is free without an account, with 29 free Templates. A free account saves two signatures. The Signature plan, $9 once (launch price until October 31, then $19), adds the Pro Templates, the holiday Seasons and up to 25 saved signatures.
